Ti-Cities prep roundup: St. Charles North girls volleyball caps strong week

Football:

St. Charles North defeated Larkin 45-6 on Sept. 8.

Backup quarterback David Beach started in place of Michael Hohensee and completed 11-of-14 passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns for the North Stars (2-1, 1-0).

Batavia defeated Streamwood 56-0 on Sept. 8.

Senior quarterback Riley Cooper had an efficient evening on 4-of-6 passing on 83 yards for Batavia (2-0, 1-0), and eight different Bulldogs scored touchdowns.

Marmion beat St. Francis 42-14 on Sept. 8.

Quarterback Brandon McPherson ran for 49 yards and three touchdowns, and threw for 92 yards and a score. Zach Urwiler ran for 133 yards and a touchdown for Marmion (3-0, 1-0).

Girls volleyball:

St. Charles North defeated Geneva 25-13, 25-14 on Sept. 5.

Katie Lanz starred offensively for the North Stars with seven kills and 12 assists, while Amanda Parker and Cassandra Johnson both contributed another six assists. 

In its conference opener against Elgin, Batavia defeated the Maroons 25-14, 25-7.

Batavia's Hannah Yaconis had eight kills and one block, and Lauren Haefer had three aces, plus three kills.

Naperville North defeated Batavia 25-11, 25-23 on Sept. 7.

Becca Robinson had two aces to pace Batavia, while Cordelia Smith and Sam Juarez chipped in five kills each. Juarez and Jenna Garrett both had eight digs apiece.

St. Charles North defeated rival St. Charles East 25-14, 25-12 on Sept. 8.

Senior Abby Graham highlighted the North Stars' effort with one ace, six digs and 10 kills. Juniors Gigi Crescendo and Katie Lanz each pounded seven kills apiece.

Boys golf:

Geneva took the top three finishes in its match against Batavia on Sept. 6.

Tyler Isenhart placed first for the Vikings with a score of 34. Jake Mills (37) and Teegan Ebel (40) took second and third, respectively.

Batavia's Will Huber (41) placed fourth.

Boys soccer:

St. Charles North defeated Addison Trail at the PepsiCo Showdown 3-0 on Sept. 9.

Senior forward Bernard Elegbede punched in two goals at the 25th minute and 75th minute to lead the Stars, while senior defenseman Peter Willis got North going with a score at the seventh minute. Piercarlo Ricossa had 4 saves.
