Kaneland preps roundup: Madie Jurasek leads Kaneland girls tennis past Rochelle

Girls volleyball:

The varsity Lady Knights defeated Rock Falls 25-14 and 25-21 on Sept. 5. Senior Sheika Mushunduzi had seven kills to pace Kaneland offensively Sept. 5.

Kaneland defeated Genoa-Kingston 25-15, 25-15 on Sept. 7. Junior Sydney Fedderly had 15 assists.

Kaneland outlasted LaSalle-Peru 25-16, 17-25, 15-8. The Lady Knights were led by Mushunduzi with 24 kills.

Girls tennis:

In her first official match, Madie Jurasek, a transfer student, secured a pair of 6-0 wins in her singles matches. Kaneland ultimately beat Rochelle 5-0 on Sept. 5.

Kaneland defeated Sycamore 4-1 on Sept. 7. After two singles matches wins by Jurasek and Piper Schrepferman, Kaneland needed one doubles victory from one of three pairs. Yet, it would drop all their second sets – after first set victories – setting the stage for the heartracing finish.

Boys golf:

Kaneland turned in one of its best performances of the season, defeating Sterling 151-182 on Sept. 7. Junior Will Marshall led with a score 3-under par 33.

Boys soccer:

Kaneland varsity outlasted Morris 2-1 on Sept. 7.

Kaneland would drop its match against Sycamore 3-0. Kaneland surrendered one goal in the first half, with a final two tallies to put the game out of reach in the second half Sept. 8.

Kaneland outlasted Baraboo High 2-1 on Sept. 9. The Knights poked in two goals in the first half, and that would be enough to withstand Baraboo's lone tally in the second half.
