BATAVIA – The Batavia City Council is expected to select a new 4th Ward alderman at its Committee of the Whole meeting the evening of Sept. 12.

Four applicants are seeking the appointment, which became available when Paula Mueller resigned the council seat because she is moving out of the ward.

The four applicants are Joe Knopp, Jerry LaMonte, Tony Malay and Mary Tiradani. Aldermen are scheduled to interview the four applicants and then vote in closed session, before Mayor Jeff Schielke announces the appointment.

The term for the new alderman will be until the April 2019 election. The 4th Ward covers the northeast side of the city.
