Aurora stage to present 'Swan Lake' fairy tale ballet

A beloved classical ballet will be brought to the stage when the National Ballet Theatre of Odessa presents Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake” at 3 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Paramount Theatre in Aurora.

The full-scale production marks the troupe’s first U.S. tour, featuring 55 of the Ukraine’s most talented ballet stars, according to a news release.

The ballet is the tale of a young prince who falls in love with a princess who has been transformed into a swan. Based on Russian folklore and German legend, it is set to the music of Pyotr Tchaikovsky. Choreography for “Swan Lake” is after Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, staged by ballet manager Yuri Vasyuchenko.

Tickets cost $35 to $65. For tickets and information, visit ParamountAurora.com, call 630-896-6666 or stop by the Paramount box office from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The theater is at 23 E. Galena Blvd.
