BATAVIA- Ed Wheeler has been selected as the artist of the month for February at the Batavia Public Library, the library announced in a press release.
Wheeler is a self-taught artist whose exhibit includes both realistic still life and abstract portraits. He sometimes works from a photograph when painting a landscape or portrait, but often simply picks up a pencil or brush and allows his imagination to take over. Wheeler likens the experience to “going for a drive in your car with no timeframe or destination predetermined, a process and journey of self-discovery— the creative endeavor is its own reward,” he stated in the release.
Being Illinois born and raised, Wheeler draws inspiration from walks and bike rides along the Fox River and loves the seeing the hawks and eagles when they “grace his presence.”
The artist’s work will be on display until the end of the month in the art gallery on the main level.
Batavia Public Library seeks local artists to display their work in the Art Gallery on a monthly basis. For information, call Patricia Leonard at 630-879-1393, ext. 410, or visit www.BataviaPublicLibrary.org.
