Geneva would never hold the lead again after the Parker jumper from beyond the arc.
“You don’t think about losing,” said Mascari, who finished with a game-high 21 points for Geneva.
McDonald, as ever, was humble in defeat.
He could, if he wished, play on a golf scholarship next fall. After all, he was a four-time state qualifier at Geneva. He indeed has a unique athletic skill set.
Instead of golf, McDonald will ply his trade in Rock Island next year at Augustana for a traditional Divison III power.
“These past four years have been unbelievable,” McDonald said.
His coach agreed.
“Jack and these current seniors have taken Geneva basketball to a different level,” Hennig said.
