“I knew I had to get the girls in because we said at the beginning that we wanted to score first, so that was going through my mentality in that at-bat to get my barrel on the ball and get the runners in,” Wooten said of her two-run knock.
St. Charles East coach Jarod Gutesha said Wooten has become a key leader for his program this season.
“She can play any position in the infield and can make good contact,” he said. “She hits the ball hard and had some big hits for us. She had a big hit in the first inning. She’s a leader by example and brings a good positive approach to the field. She can deal with the highs and lows and brings a nice demeanor.”
