ST. CHARLES – The St. Charles Police Department conducted additional traffic enforcement May 10 to May 28, reminding motorists to buckle up and not drive impaired, day or night, as part of the nationwide Click It or Ticket/Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement effort.

The St. Charles Police joined other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to reduce highway deaths by issuing citations to unbuckled motorists and arresting impaired drivers.

During the 18 day enforcement effort, St. Charles Police issued:

• 1 child seat belt citation

• 2 suspended or revoked licenses citations

• 2 uninsured motorists citations

• 8 speeding citations

• 3 distracted driving citations

• 2 citations for other violations

• 1 Drug Arrest

“Our officers are out year-round," St. Charles Police Commander Eric Majewski said in a news release from the St. Charles Police Department. "If you or your passengers, front or back, are caught not wearing a seat belt, you will be cited for the violation,”

The Click It or Ticket mobilization was made possible with federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
