Arrambide play on bunt preserves 3-2 win; Alex Wooten, Krista Sbarra team up for winning rally
EAST PEORIA – Katie Arrambide's mind could have been swimming with negative thoughts as she prepared for her last pitch Friday.
Thoughts of the three hits and two runs she had just allowed. Thoughts of the two Joliet West baserunners behind her.
Or of losing it all.
Arrambide, St. Charles East's sophomore pitcher, wiped them all away – but she didn't forget teammate Lauren Luna's sage words.
"She said before that inning that she had a friend on that team, that they told her they'd try to bunt small ball when they're behind," Arrambide said. "I had that on my mind. Be ready for the bunt, jump on anything."
