ST. CHARLES – St. Charles Police Commander Chuck Pierce and Sergeant Rich Clark recently graduated from the School of Police Staff and Command at Northwestern University’s Center for Public Safety in Evanston.

The program provides upper-level college instruction in a total of 27 core blocks. Graduates complete courses in areas such as organizational behavior, strategic planning and management, principles and practices of leadership, human resource management and workplace relations.

“We are very proud of Commander Pierce and Sgt. Clark for completing this rigorous program through Northwestern University,” St. Charles Police Chief James Keegan said in a news release from the St. Charles Police Department. “We encourage opportunities for continuing education for our officers and appreciate the application of the latest training to constantly help improve our department.”

The Center for Public Safety was established at Northwestern University in 1936 with the goal of expanding university-based education and training for the Law Enforcement Community. Since 1983, the Center has graduated 14,000 students.
