ST. CHARLES TOWNSHIP – A Batavia man charged with break-ins at two Batavia homes in June was charged Aug. 5 with possession of a credit card without the card holder's consent, according to court and police records.

Tobias F. Granberg, 21, of the 100 block of North Mallory Avenue, Batavia, was taken into custody on an arrest warrant Aug. 11, records show.

Granberg was already out on bail for the burglary charges and was released on the new charge after posting $2,000 bail, or 10% of the $20,000 bond that was set.

After a court appearance Aug. 15 before Kane County Associate Judge Charles Petersen, Granberg will get a public defender as his attorney withdrew, and he was ordered to report to Adult Court Services.

Granberg already had numerous charges pending against him.

On June 13, a Kane County Grand Jury indicted Granberg on four charges: residential burglary on April 27 of a home in the 42W400 block of Keslinger Road, Blackberry Township, theft of $500 in cash from that home, both felonies; criminal trespass without authority and trespass to a vehicle, both misdemeanors, court records show.

On June 12, Granberg was charged with two counts of felony residential burglary to a house in the 700 block of Houston Street and a house in the 300 block of Whipple Avenue, felony burglary without damage to vehicles at both houses.

Granberg was also charged June 12 with felony forgery and unlawful use of a credit card in that he knowingly took a forged check for $550 to West Suburban Bank, drawn on the account of Glendale Heights Chamber of Commerce, court records show.

Granberg was also charged on June 12 with unlawful use of someone else’s credit card in that he tried to buy an item valued at less than $300, court records show.

Granberg was also charged April 12 with misdemeanor retail theft of items from Katrina Salon and Spa, 8 N. River St., Batavia, according to police and court records.

Court records show the misdemeanor trespassing charges from April 28 were consolidated into the June 12 felony burglary charges.

Granberg is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 26 to set a date for a preliminary hearing on all the charges.
