Why she was selected: Auchstetter placed fourth overall in the Aurora City Meet and second overall in the Royals' meet with Westmont, shooting a 37. Auchstetter caught up with Chronicle sports reporter Jacob Bartelson to talk about the start of the season.

Bartelson: When did you begin playing golf?

Auchstetter: I began playing golf when I was six years oold. I didn’t start getting competitive until I was in eighth grade.

Bartelson: Why is it a passion of yours?

Auchstetter: Golf is a passion of mine because it’s a game of strategy as well as a game of skill. No matter what, there is always competition whether it’s against an opponent or the course itself.

Bartelson: How were you so successful in your last few meets?

Auchstetter: My game just kind of came together these last few weeks. My iron play, short game, and putting really came through. I also received a lot of support from my coaches and teammates.

Bartelson: Do you possibly want to play in college?

Auchstetter: Yes, It is a goal of mine. I would love to play college golf.
