NORTH RIVERSIDE – “The Man Who Came to Dinner,” a 1930s vintage situation comedy by the acclaimed team of Kaufman and Hart, will be staged from Oct. 11 to 20 by the North Riverside Players.

In the plot, Sheridan Whiteside, famous New York radio wit, is about to dine at the home of the Stanleys, but slips on their doorstep, breaking his hip. A tumultuous six weeks of confinement follow. The Stanley living room is monopolized by the irascible invalid, ex-convicts are invited to meals, and transatlantic calls bring a huge phone bill. The arrival of strange gifts from his friends further destroys domestic tranquility.

Curtain is at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2:30 p.m. Sundays at Scheck Village Commons, 2401 S. Des Plaines Ave., North Riverside. The production is directed by Cheryl Pold. For tickets, visit www.nrplayers.com or call 708-512-7015.
