BATAVIA – The Batavia VFW is hosting its annual fall festival, featuring a pumpkin carving contest followed by a pig roast on Oct. 27 at the VFW, 645 S. River St., Batavia.

Pumpkin carving will start at 9 a.m., with judging at 11:30 a.m. by Fire Chief Deicke. There will be a visit for the kids from the fire trucks of the Batavia Fire Department and a police car from Batavia Police Department. Kids will have time to both carve pumpkins and see the vehicles, in no particular order.

The Bears and Chargers kickoff at noon.

The pig roast will be held outside during the Bears game on the north end of the lot, the site of our future community patio and recreation area. We will have the Bears game on TVs outside with audio through the PA system.

Pumpkin carving and the Fire and Police Vehicle visits are free.

For adults, the pig roast is $10 per plate, which includes potato salad and cole slaw and water, soda, or a beer or cocktail (for those over 21). $5 for kids 8-18 years old.
