CASA Kane County hosted its new Holiday Extravaganza on Dec. 1 at Riverside Receptions in Geneva.

The special event was all about children and families and began with a holiday celebration featuring Santa and Mrs. Claus, friends from the movie "Frozen," temporary tattoos, balloon artists, carolers, a magician and candy stations, along with food and hot chocolate for both adults and kids, stated a news release. Chef Roby of All Chocolate Kitchen in Geneva created a sugar snowman sculpture that was raffled off at the conclusion of the evening.

The second half of the evening featured a couture fashion show styled by the Jane Pabon Boutique, along with hair and make-up presented by Sojourn Salon and Spa. Guests were also entertained by a dancing duo from Vargo’s Dance in Geneva and a live performance from Jeffery Austin of "The Voice."

“An important part of CASA’s mission is to promote healthy kids and families that make our community better and stronger," said Gloria Bunce, executive director of CASA Kane County, in the release. "We are fortunate to be able to hold both a family holiday event and a fun, elegant, more adult-focused event – all with the support and partnership of our Geneva-area friends. The best part is that families, friends and loved ones were able to come together for one night in celebration this holiday season that also brought greater awareness of abuse and neglect in this community.”

For nearly 30 years, CASA Kane County has been recruiting, training and supervising community volunteers who serve as court appointed special advocates – or CASAs – and guardian ad litem – or GAL – for children in court due to abuse, neglect or private

CASA volunteers act as the "eyes and ears of the judge" to help make the best decision for a safe, caring and permanent home for each child, stated the release.

"The organization serves 100 percent of all abuse/neglect and private guardianship cases in the 16th Judicial Circuit of Kane County and has been doing this since 2002," the release stated. "CASA Kane County's 15 staff and 250 active CASA/GAL volunteers advocate for more than 600 children annually."
