Themes include 'Star Wars,' 'Tiger King' and more
GENEVA – The McCall family of Geneva is making memories during the COVID-19 pandemic by adding a fun twist to their evening meal with special theme nights.
The family thought of the idea about a week ago as a way to keep their children engaged and entertained while they're at home. But the nightly event grew into a fun experience for the entire family, so Lindsey McCall began sharing photos of their costumes and meals online.
"It's amazing how much interaction we've had on social media," McCall stated in the email. "People I haven't spoken to in years comment about how our photos are the one thing that makes them smile each day. Others have asked if they can come quarantine with us. I've had a few people comment that we keep them going every day."
The family uses things they find around the house, including old Halloween costumes, to create their costumes, McCall explained in an email. She said the family starts prepping for their evening around 4:45 p.m., just before a virtual happy hour with friends, complete with themed specialty drinks and snacks. The family then gathers around the table for their meal, and they cap off the evening with dessert and a themed dance party.
