BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP – A Sycamore man was killed after a head-on collision Wednesday afternoon on Plank Road in far western Kane County.

According to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff's Office, Roy Harmon, 44, of Sycamore, was pronounced dead after being taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Elgin. The accident happened at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday on Plank Road, just east of County Line Road in Unincorporated Burlington Township.

The release states that Harmon, who was driving a Buick Enclave and was the only one in the SUV, was heading west on Plank when he crossed the center line, striking an eastbound GMC pickup truck. The driver of the truck, Wayne Woolford, 52, of Waukegan, was also taken to St. Joseph's Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. Woolford was the only occupant in the truck.

The cause of crash remains under investigation by Sheriff’s Deputies and members of the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.
